PHP: Get-Set-Go


This article will help you setup PHP on Windows in 3 simple steps.

Step 1 - Get


This step will help you Get the required tools. The most easiest way to start using PHP is to install XAMPP (a project of ApacheFriends). So first of all you need to get the XAMPP. Click on the link below to download XAMPP (its free).

Step 2 - Set



This step will help you Setup XAMPP on your Windows. Simply run the downloaded xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe file. Which is a step by step Installation.

First it will ask you location to install the XAMPP.
Choose the destination folder and press Install.

Then it may ask you to place shortcuts on Desktop/Startmenu.

Press Y and then Enter.

It will then ask you to locate XAMPP paths correctly.

Press Y and then Enter.

It will then ask you to make XAMPP Portable (without drive letters)

Press Y and then Enter.

The setup will then tell you some information about XAMPP Installation. Press Enter twice.

At the end a menu will appear before you:

Choose 1 and press Enter.

XAMPP Control Panel window will appear in the bottom-right corner.

Press the Start button next to Apache Module.

Congratulations you have Setup XAMPP on your PC.

Step 3 - Go


Now its the time to test. Whether we have setup XAMPP correctly or not.

Open Notepad and write these lines.

Then save the file with the name test.php in xampp\htdocs folder.



Now type http://localhost/test.php in the address bar of your web browser.



Thats it you have successfully Installed the XAMPP. Now you are able to use PHP on the go.
